Longtime Batman fans have pondered just about every kind of aspect of the Caped Crusader's life, but DC has apparently put at least one of them to bed (no pun intended): Batman does *not* go down on his ladies.

In an interview with Variety that touches on the upcoming third season of 'Harley Quinn' - a raunchy HBO Max animated series very much intended for adults - producer Justin Halpern discussed the kinds of issues they sometimes run into when working with legacy characters like the Justice League.

This is what the whole show is like.

When an intended scene for S3 included Batman going down on Catwoman, DC/Warner Bros. apparently balked at the idea and cited concerns about toy sales as the reason...

... which is kinda weird when you consider that they had no issues with a bizarre and much-criticized scene in 'The Killing Joke' where ol' Batsy gets dirty with his young protege:

Oh yeah, this is totally OK somehow.

Now, it could be argued that Barbara Gordon is a legal adult in this particular movie, but you gotta admit the whole mentor-protege relationship of it all makes the whole thing feel not quite right. I'm just saying if THIS is fine by them, then what's so wrong about Batman being a generous lover on a show clearly intended for an adult audience?

There's nothing more chivalrous than showing your lady a good time.

Halpern did note that DC/Warner have been generally very supportive of the show, so maybe we'll see some reference to this whole thing in the upcoming season after all. In the meantime, it definitely got 'Batman' trending and the memes flying:

anakin padme - batman doesn't go down without a fight right

meme - Every movie Batman's stance on going down

Let's face facts:

real heroes go downtown

It's where the real action is.
